Geri Horner has amended an iconic call to action utilised by the Spice Girls to make it more gender inclusive.

The 52-year-old singer was one of the five original members of the chart-topping band who were well known for embracing and promoting "Girl Power".

However, the singer-turned-children's author has signalled that this rallying cry is in need of a 2025 update.

Addressing fans at the launch of her latest children's book, the star said, per the Daily Mail, "Girl Power was a sweet word for feminism.

"But if you look in the dictionary and see what feminism means, it means the 'equalisation between the sexes.'

"Therefore, to me it's irrelevant what your gender is, I want everyone to feel their power, so let's evolve that word from Girl Power to Inner Power."

The Spice Girls, which also includes band members Emma Bunton, Mel B, Melanie C, and Victoria Beckham, shot to fame in 1996 with the release of their debut single Wannabe.

The band are regarded as feminist icons, emerging at a time when male Brit pop bands ruled the music world, only to break through and dominate the charts themselves.

Horner, who was known as Ginger Spice and for her maiden name Halliwell, has been releasing her young adult novel series Rosie Frost since 2023 with the story focusing on a young orphan who becomes a hero.

The latest book, titled Rosie Frost: Ice on Fire, was released last month.
