Britney captioned a shot from her 2001 Overprotected music video, "I wrote a new song!"
She seemingly revealed that the track would be called Hate You to Like Me, but clarified that she had "no beef with anyone" and was "just being a narcissist in a claimed, self-entitled way".
"It’s to accumulate interest by giving ego with my eyes closed because I hear important people do that these days," she added, with a winking face and bullseye emoji.
While Britney has appeared on Hold Me Closer with Elton John and Mind Your Business with will.i.am, she has not released any solo music since she was freed from her conservatorship in November 2021.
In the comments of her post, fans noted the title's similarity to Selena Gomez's 2019 hit Lose You to Love Me.
The singer seemingly called out the Only Murders In The Building star in October 2022. Seemingly referring to a 2016 speech in which Selena asserted that she didn't "want to see (girls') bodies" on Instagram, Britney wrote in a post, "They say 'This is NOT something I would do' yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream!"
