Christina Aguilera is reportedly preparing to propose to her boyfriend.

The 30-year-old singer has been dating budding musician Matthew Rutler for over a year, since the breakdown of her marriage to ex-husband Jordan Bratman.

Christina is said to be very forthcoming about telling her friends and family that she and her beau are definitely headed for a trip up the aisle.

'She makes jokes about him proposing all the time in front of him,' an insider told In Touch. 'He gets a little embarrassed but it's obvious they've talked about it.

'It's coming soon. She wants to start over and thinks that asking him to marry her is the way to start.'

However, another friend thinks that Matthew, 26, might beat her to it and could propose over the Christmas holiday.

The only snag is that Matthew is struggling to get the money together to buy her an impressive engagement ring.

'He wants to buy her a major diamond, so he's saving his pennies,' the pal added. 'He's going to propose this year, even if he has to buy the ring on credit.'
