The former Spice Girl - who is expecting a baby with her spouse Stephen Belafonte this summer, her third child in total - admits while the movie producer is her "best friend", the pair often annoy one another.

She explained: "I married my best friend. We have the same interests - we're both quirky, funny people. We just get each other. We have a laugh. But of course we get on each other's nerves at times but that's what a relationship is. For the most part we have a lot of fun."

However, Mel - who is well-known for her love of exercise - finds it hard to work out alongside her husband because he is always messing about.

She added: "We have a gym at home that he's been up to a few times, but he just messes about. It's kind of funny."

Mel already has 12-year-old Phoenix Chi from her marriage to backing dancer Jimmy Gulzar and three-year-old Angel Iris, whose father is Eddie Murphy.

Stephen has a six-year-old daughter, Giselle, from a previous relationship.
