It's a bit early to make a firm prediction, but after one day of data gather, Hits Daily Double is projecting a huge week for Whitney Houston on the Album charts.
Only about 40% of the data is currently in (the full sampling will be complete tomorrow) but, at this point, Houston has the numbers 2 (The Greatest Hits), 4 (The Bodyguard), 6 (Triple Feature box set), 7 (I Look to You), 8 (Whitney Houston) and 10 (My Love is Your Love) albums, giving her an amazing six out of the top ten spots. Throw in I'm Your Baby Tonight (#12) and Just Whitney (#13) and it gives her eight of the top fifteen.
Once again, there are still a lot of reports to come in but, if these numbers hold, it could be a record setting week. Only Michael Jackson could equal those numbers and, because catalog albums were not included in Billboard's Top 200 at the time of his death, it was not possible to do a direct comparison; however, Billboard did have a Comprehensive Album Chart that combined new and catalog product at the time and Jackson held six of the top ten albums during the weeks of July 25 and August 1, 2009. Two months later, the Beatles held five of the top ten when they released the remastered versions of their albums.
