Katy Perry scores the most nominations at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Ever the visual merchandiser, Perry scored nine nominations at the announcement today.
In a good nomination day for Adele (she's also in the running for the Mercury Prize), she nabbed seven.
And Kanye West got seven nominations too, for his visual work around the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.
Bruno Mars is up for four awards, including Video Of the Year for 'Grenade'.
He's up against Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep', Beastie Boys' 'Make Some Noise', Katy Perry's 'Firework' and the disturbing video for 'Yonkers' by Tyler The Creator.
Other acts who scored nominations include Justin Bieber, Foster The People, Lil Wayne, 30 Seconds to Mars, Pitbull, Chris Brown and Cee-Lo Green.
The MTV Video Music Awards will be dished out in a ceremony at LA's Nokia Theatre on August 28.
