The 'You Had Me' singer has revealed the Rolling Stones rocker is constantly trying to make her give up nicotine-laden cigarettes for the sake of her voice and 'goes mad' at her if she's photographed smoking.

She said: 'Mick Jagger is always having a go at me for smoking. I've known him and the rest of the band for years now and I love them. Mick is always on at me about drinking honey and buying humidifiers for my voice. I follow his advice, then he sees me smoking a roll-up and goes mental. I try to stop, I do, but it's hard.'

Although she's got a good friend in Mick, the 22-year-old singer fears she's 'hated' in Britain.

She explained to Live magazine: 'A lot of people in this country hate me. I seem to annoy people. I'm always on the worst-dressed lists and I just seem to get people very angry. When I went out on stage at the BRITs two years ago, there was an outcry because people thought I was talking in an American accent. I'm the sort of person who deals with conflict head-on, but my record company just cancelled all interviews and TV appearances because of the fuss. I still don't get what it's all about.'
